What is a Fitness Coach? JR is a True Master Fitness Coach. He has extensive experience in Emergency Medicine, Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Aquatics Training, Martial Arts Training, as well as managing and leading in the areas of Fitness and Recreation. A Master Fitness Coach's approach in working with an athlete is based upon the athlete's goal(s). Sometimes this may be to join the Sport Coach and try to turn performance around quickly while still yet looking at things a year away, like a tournament or other competitive event that is on the schedule for the athlete. The role may also have the Fitness Coach working with athletes in a tennis academy, golf academy, or various teams. Tracking the progress of each athlete, mitigating injuries, all while working to assist each athlete daily/weekly is all part of the life of a Fitness Coach.

The Fitness Coach becomes part of the Athlete's day and regimen. My job as a Fitness Coach for some of the world's best athletes lead to doing more. I can remember taking one Top #10 WTA player to guitar lessons with my daughter. Another, WTA #1, would have me walk her dog when I arrived at her house. She was getting off the court and I would get to her home early, go in take the dog, get things ready for our training session on her 2 private courts and then wait for her. I would also spend a lot of time with the athlete traveling. In these moments the Fitness Coach also becomes motivator, friend, confidant, and may be the one stable dependable force for the Athlete. The sport coaches come and go, but the Fitness Coach has a unique role with the athlete.
Power in terms of Sports and Athletics is the combination of endurance, strength, and sport skill combined. How the athlete can endure while still producing at a high level on the court or field directly relates to this POWER. Lifting weights in the gym is not going to increase your power. It is a quotient of the Power. Power is not a tangible quality. Yet a high performing athlete must be able to maintain this sense of Power. Knowing how to take an athlete from one level to the next over time and gaining POWER is something I have done for over 20 plus years.
